Micah Hyde has been one of the mot important Buffalo Bills of the last decade.
He, along with his former running mate Jordan Poyer, were just two of the several veterans that helped the Bills end their playoff drought and become one of the best teams in the NFL.
Hyde is not currently with the team, as 2023 was the final year of his contract. And at age 33, and having had a neck injury in 2022 that seems to still be lingering, Hyde may end up hanging up his cleats for good.
Appearing on "Centered on Buffalo," Hyde gave details on what went into his neck surgery in 2022.
"Before I got surgery up in L.A. with Dr. Watkins, he mentioned to me 'Do you want to continue playing?'" Hyde said. "And I'm like 'Oh, no-brainer. Yes. He said 'Well, you can't get a double fusion. Because the top one is bad and you need to get something done to even play again. But the bottom one, you're at risk at damaging that even more.'"
Hyde has said he wants to continue playing in 2024, but only if it is for the Bills. Buffalo has brought in multiple safeties, including former Kansas City Chiefs safety Mike Edwards. They also drafted Cole Bishop out of Utah in the second round.
