The New Orleans Saints have a backup quarterback competition rumbling for the 2024 season. This year, it won't include Jameis Winston, though. Winston moved on during free agency. He was post-June 1st cut by New Orleans, saving some cap space in the short term.
Winston is now vying for playing time with the Cleveland Browns. In the meantime during the offseason, he had some fun for Media Day on Monday. Saints fans always loved his personality and leadership.
Jameis Winston is going viral once again
Winston is clearly having fun in Cleveland. That should not surprise a soul. He's one of the top-flight "good guys" in the entire NFL, and Saints fans know that better than anybody.
Teammates in New Orleans always raved about his work ethic and determination to brings the players closer together. Even as the backup QB in 2023, he made a big impact on the team's character.
Winston sent a heartfelt goodbye message to the New Orleans Saints via social media earlier in the offseason.
Winston also explained why he chose to join Cleveland during the offseason. It was a tough decision for him, but he had to make it in his best interest for the rest of his pro career.
“I’m a firm believer that nothing happens by coincidence. So, when this opportunity came about, we locked in and we communicated, we collaborated on it, and this just felt like a great fit for me.” — Winston
Fans will always remember his energy and effort during his time with the Saints. You could never doubt how hard Winston was working on improving as a QB and a teammate.
