The Tennessee Vols have a huge opportunity later this month to make another massive impression on the top 2026 recruit in the nation.

2026 five-star quarterback Faizon Brandon, the No. 1 overall player in the nation, is set to take a visit to Tennessee on May 31.

Brandon, 6-foot-4/195 lbs from Greensboro, NC, has visited Tennessee several times before, most recently checking out Knoxville for the Vols' spring game in April.

The visit at the end of May, however, will be a bit different.

That's because, according to 247Sports, Brandon will be celebrating his 16th birthday while on his visit to Tennessee, giving the Vols a great opportunity to deliver a special weekend for the talented recruit.

Brandon revealed earlier this month that he plans to announce his commitment after his junior season is complete, around December or January (that time frame seems to now be the standard commitment timeline for top quarterback recruits each year).

Tennessee has been strongly pursuing Brandon since long before the national hype started for the Greensboro native, which is one of the reasons why the Vols are viewed as an "early favorite" for the five-star quarterback.

Brandon is from the same city as former Tennessee quarterback Hendon Hooker, which is something else working in the Vols' favor in this recruiting battle.

Tennessee hasn't "missed" on a quarterback recruiting target under Josh Heupel (outside of current Alabama quarterback Ty Simpson, who committed to the Crimson Tide a month after Heupel was hired by the Vols…hard to blame Heupel there) and I wouldn't bet against the Vols in the battle for Brandon.

There's no guarantee that Tennessee will land Brandon, but right now, I'd take Heupel and the Vols over the field.
