The Cleveland Browns have settled on their second selection in the 2024 NFL Draft.

Cleveland has selected Ohio State DT Michael Hall Jr. in the third-round with pick No. 54 overall. After playing his high school ball at nearby Streetsboro High School, Hall is back in Northeast Ohio.

The pick here made too much sense. Cleveland met with Hall multiple times and he fills a need they have. With only Dalvin Tomlinson and Siaki Ika on the roster past 2024, the Browns needed to continue to invest in the position.

Maurice Hurst, Shelby Harris, and Quinton Jefferson are all on one year deals and now the Browns add a young pass rusher on the interior. Hall wins inside as a pass rusher first and that’s what they need after taking Ika as a run plugger last year.

Hall is quick and powerful off the line and has great hand work for an interior pass rusher. As a 3-tech, the Browns won’t need to rush Hall with depth on the roster. They can walk him along in 2024 and allow him to carve out a role that best fits.

In the end it was a pick that I’ve had penciled in for months and the Browns make it happen.
