The Las Vegas Raiders are at the NFL Combine, as is every NFL team, but they are interviewing every quarterback, where not every team is doing that. For example, the Kansas City Chiefs aren't going to be meeting Caleb Williams.
The one quarterback that most of Raider Nation wants on their team is Jayden Daniels, the Heisman-winning quarterback from LSU. He has mobility and great arm talent that would fit the Raiders' system perfectly.
He also has a prior relationship with Antonio Pierce, who has known him since Daniels was 14 years old. The two were at Arizona State at the same time and now have the chance to be in Las Vegas at the same time if Daniels somehow falls to pick No. 13 or if the Raiders do have the chance to trade up.
On Friday, when the quarterbacks spoke to the media at the NFL Combine, Daniels reflected on his time with the Raiders during their meeting.
"It was great," Daniels said. "Going in there, I already knew Coach Pierce, but overall, just meeting the whole staff… there was great energy. I loved just being able to sit down and talk ball."
While Daniels is from San Bernadino, California, which is close to Los Angeles, he isn't old enough to grow up in the Los Angeles Raiders era, so he may or may not have grown up a Raiders fan. However, we do know that he is an Antonio Pierce fan, which is enough to make him want to be a Raider.
But he can want to be a Raider all he wants, and none of that matters if the Raiders don't go and get him. Daniels is projected to be a top-five pick by A to Z Sports' Big Board. The way things are looking, there is a very good chance he will be the third player off the board when the New England Patriots pick at No. 3.
The Raiders have some work to do, but this is the NFL draft, and you really cannot rule anything out.
Patriots going after QB in the draft makes the Raiders’ attempt that much harder
The Raiders have to find a way.
