The Los Angeles Chargers are moving on from a fan favorite from last season's defensive unit.
According to Adam Schefter and the team, the Chargers have released veteran linebacker Eric Kendricks.
Kendricks spent just one season with LA. He was quite productive in 2023 with the Chargers, though. He was also a team captain that started 14 games for their defense.
He ranked 2nd on the team with 117 tackles, which was his eighth-straight season with at least 100 tackles. Kendricks totaled 3.5 sacks, seven tackles for loss, six passes defensed and a forced fumble, too.
The move saves the Chargers $6.5 million in cap space in 2024.
Los Angeles will look to add linebacker depth elsewhere in the NFL Draft and free agency.
