The Los Angeles Chargers’ latest nightmare has Jim Harbaugh singing a different tune than just a few weeks ago
Los Angeles Chargers head coach Jim Harbaugh didn’t sugarcoat anything when asked about his coaching staff after Week 6.
The Los Angeles Chargers are currently an exercise in Murphy’s Law. Anything that can go wrong, will.
It’s certainly been that type of season, and one of the teams’ biggest moves from the offseason continues to be one of it’s most critiqued now that the games are being played. That, of course, would be the hiring of offensive coordinator Mike McDaniel. Another frustrating loss. Another sputtering offensive performance. And on the heels of the 22-6 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs, the cracks are starting to show. Head coach Jim Harbaugh left pretty much everything on the table when asked a pointed question about McDaniel and his role on staff.
Jim Harbaugh leaves the door open for anything and everything after the Los Angeles Chargers fall to 0-6
“We’re going to look at everything. The job I’m doing, I mean it starts with me. The plan is to watch this and get with our offensive coaches. I see the effort, I see the work being put in. In the meetings, on the practice field. And to get that to translate to the field is what’s necessary.”

The vibes…they’re not great. You could actually say they’re “awful”. Harbaugh leaving the door open for a play caller change as soon as Week 6 underscores just how off the rails this situation has gotten. Harbaugh’s response is different than the one he gave two weeks ago, when he said “(McDaniel’s job) is not in jeopardy.” To some degree, the tide is turning.
If the Chargers want to make adjustments, now is the time. They have a Week 7 bye week. And after expressing belief that the team was close to turning a corner in Week 6? They scored 6 points. They’d be justified for it; and there will never be a better time to take on a transition than the bye.
Tick tock.
