Luke Kuechly knows what it takes to be an all-time great.
During his time as captain of the Carolina Panthers defense, he defined what being an elite linebacker was in the NFL.
Now retired, Kuechly saw first-hand Bryce Young's rookie season, and he had some choice words for the quarterback who was one of the league's worst starters during the 2023 season.
“He got up every time, walked off the field, never complained," Kuechly said of Young's toughness to Joseph Person of The Athletic. "Now we need everything else to come along (offensively).”
Rebuilding Young's confidence has been the primary mission of the 2024 offseason.
Carolina hired Dave Canales to help restructure the offense around Young.
Canales worked with Baker Mayfield and Geno Smith. He has a track record of getting the most out of quarterbacks on their last legs in the NFL.
Retooling the offense around Young means getting elite wide receivers and retooling the running game. Also, the offensive line will need repeated work, as Young was one of the most sacked quarterbacks during the 2023 season.
But at least on the surface, one NFL legend still believes he has what it takes to be a good quarterback at the NFL level.
NFL legend shows he still has belief in Bryce Young despite his awful rookie season for the Panthers
When Bryce Young finished his rookie season with a 2-14 record, several jumped off his bandwagon.
