The Cincinnati Bengals' initial practice squad for the 2023 season has been revealed.
14 players, 13 of whom were with the Bengals during training camp, make up the team's initial practice squad:
- DL Domenique Davis
- CB Allan George
- OL Nate Gilliam
- QB Will Grier
- DL Jeff Gunter
- LB Shaka Heyward
- TE Tanner Hudson
- WR Shedrick Jackson
- CB Sidney Jones IV
- OL Jaxson Kirkland
- WR Kwamie Lassiter II
- WR Stanley Morgan Jr.
- LB Tyler Murray
- S Michael Thomas
The lone external signing is Will Grier, a fifth-year quarterback who comes from the Dallas Cowboys. Grier is fresh off the preseason game of a lifetime, which surely caught the Bengals' attention during final cuts.
Other notable names include special teams aces Stanley Morgan Jr. and Michael Thomas, two veterans who may see action in the regular season because of their experience there. Sidney Jones IV and Tanner Hudson were also close cuts from the final roster at their respective positions.
Perhaps the biggest surprise here is the omission of DL Raymond Johnson III, who had a tremendous preseason for Cincinnati. There's been no word on Johnson latching on to another team at this time.
The Bengals can fit up to 16 players on the practice squad, leaving openings for two more signings.
