Last season was underwhelming for the Las Vegas Raiders, as the sky-high expectations were as grounded as possible. The offense didn't do nearly what we thought it would, and the defense was much worse than expected.
However, Davante Adams, one of the best receivers in the league, still did his thing. In fact, he had one of his best seasons to date, which is shocking when you factor in everything.
Adams changed teams, changed quarterbacks, and had a new offensive system that is known for being hard to learn with a new head coach. Yet, he still put up 1,500 receiving yards and 14 touchdowns, both of which were the second-highest in his career.
He also led the league in two main categories, foreshadowing his great 2023 campaign.
Raiders' Davante Adams' league-leading stats
Last season, according to Pro Football Focus, Davante Adams led all receivers in overall grade in two coverages. Adams had an overall grade of 94.3 when being guarded in man coverage.
Adams had an overall grade of 91.3 when being guarded in zone coverage. Justin Jefferson was the league leader in overall grade when being guarded in press coverage.
This shows he will have a good season in 2023 because when you think about how bad the offense was last season, he was still able to do that.
They only added more offensive talent this offseason, especially in the receiver room. This receiver room is one of the deepest in the league. Now, that will free up the coverages on Adams because you can't just double Adams all game.
This season, we will see another great year from Adams.
