The Indianapolis Colts are set to kick off their 2023 season against the Jacksonville Jaguars this Sunday. Ahead of that matchup, the team released their 1st unofficial depth chart of the regular season.
While it is "unofficial," there are multiple things that stood out.
Indianapolis Colts Week 1 Depth Chart Reactions:
Samson Ebukam Holds on to Starting Job

Samson Ebukam was arguably the Colts biggest free agency signing this offseason. Unfortunately, he’s had to miss multiple practices so far due to different injuries throughout training camp. During his absence, Dayo Odeyingbo has turned heads with the jump his game has taken.
But it seems Ebukam has done enough so far to hold off Odeyingbo on the team's depth chart to be the listed as the starting DE opposite of Kwity Paye. The team has a lot of hope in the trio of Paye, Ebukam, and Odeyingbo on the edge, so I expect there will be a healthy rotation to get all three solid snaps throughout the season.
Zack Moss as RB 1

The Colts RB room has been full of question marks throughout training camp. The ongoing Jonathan Taylor situation and Zack Moss going down with an arm injury.
The team is being very secretive on whether or not Moss will be ready for their Week 1 matchup this Sunday. James Boyd of the Athletic even shared an interesting exchange he had with Moss on the topic:
This depth chart may not have answered if Moss will be out there Sunday. But what we now know is during his absence, neither healthy RB on the team's roster (Deon Jackson & Evan Hull) has been able to dethrone his spot as the top RB behind Jonathan Taylor.
Rookie Josh Downs now the starting slot WR

One of the worst-kept secrets during Colts training camp is how much they like rookie WR Josh Downs. And it felt like just a matter of time until the rookie climbed the depth chart and being named a starter.
We didn't have to wait very long, as the time is now, and Downs has officially jumped veteran Isaiah McKenzie on the team's 1st unofficial depth chart of the regular season. Which gives the team their 2nd rookie from their 2023 rookie class that will be starting Week 1, as Downs joins QB Anthony Richardson.
