The Vikings are just over an hour away from kicking off the 2023 season. The Buccaneers are in town for what should be an exciting home opener.
There are 53 players on a team's active roster, but only 48 players will dress on Sundays. The Vikings inactive list consists of the following players:
Davenport is the biggest name here. The prized offseason addition appeared on the Friday injury report with an ankle injury. Davenport was listed as questionable, but it's now confirmed that he will miss the opener.
OLB Andre Carter II, DL Jaquelin Roy, T David Quessenberry, and TE Nick Muse are the other inactives, while Jaren Hall will be the third QB.
Both players who were promoted to the active roster yesterday, RB Myles Gaskin and OLB Benton Whitley, will be active today. Whitley could see the field due to Davenport and Carter being inactive. It will be interesting to see if Gaskin gets any snaps behind Alexander Mattison and Ty Chandler.
It is a positive note that both players listed on the injury report Thursday are active. Troy Dye had been dealing with an elbow injury and punter Ryan Wright had been dealing with an ankle.
