History is on the side of the Cleveland Browns for a very successful season in 2023 following a big Week 1 win over the Cincinnati Bengals.

The last time the Browns won a season opener by at least 20 points, they went on to win their division. In 1989, Cleveland won the AFC Central with a 9-6-1 record.

Back then, it was the Tennessee Titans in the division instead of the Baltimore Ravens.

With Cleveland’s 24-3 victory over the Bengals, they’ve started just like they did in 1989 with a big win. Though, the AFC North is going to be much tougher to win in the year 2023.

Winning nine games won’t win the division like it did in 1989. Despite the lopsided victory over the Bengals, Cincinnati is still predicted to be a very good team in 2023. The Baltimore Ravens are expected to be improved from last season and the Pittsburgh Steelers improved their roster. In Week 1, the Steelers did lose to the San Francisco 49ers.

They say history repeats itself and the Browns would be delighted if it did when it comes to this unique stat.
