NFL officials miss game-altering penalty in Bills vs. Jets game
The Buffalo Bills didn't deserve to win the game, that's for sure. Josh Allen couldn't hold onto the football, the defense did all they could, and the team just didn't seem ready. Josh Allen couldn't hold onto the football, the defense did all they could, and the team just didn't seem ready. It was McDermott's first game calling the defense and we had to give him his flowers, we thought he did a great job.
Unfortunately, after going three and out in the overtime period, the Bills punted to the Jets which they returned it for a touchdown.
However, it never should have stood. The NFL officials missed a blatant tripping penalty that would've negated the touchdown, but they didn't make the call. We understand that the Jets would've been well in field goal range, but it was an obvious penalty that cost the Bills the game.
You can see the Jets defender LB Chazz Surratt trip Buffalo Bills TE Quintin Morris on his way to make the tackle. It was all the difference in the game as no call was made and the touchdown stood.
Again, the team shouldn't be focused on one missed call as a reason why they lost the game, but it's a blatant no-call that turned the tides of the matchup. Even at this point if the NFL came out and said they indeed missed the call, it would all be to waste.
Buffalo needs to be better, here's hoping that the referees can call a good game next time.
Josh Allen has 83 turnovers since 2018 which leads the league
The Buffalo Bills lost a heartbreaker to the division rival Jets. To add further insult to injury, Josh Allen landed on the wrong side of NFL history.
