Tennessee Vols redshirt senior wide receiver Bru McCoy,  a USC transfer who arrived in Knoxville ahead of the 2022 season, made a statement this week that will have UT fans loving head coach Josh Heupel more than ever.

McCoy recently joined Mike Golic Jr, a former Notre Dame offensive lineman, on the DraftKings YouTube channel to discuss a variety of topics.

At one point, Golic Jr asked McCoy what stands out the most about Heupel.

And McCoy couldn't have given Heupel a better endorsement.

"He’s extremely, extremely smart, like a different level," explained McCoy. "And it shows up in the way he thinks and processes football. That and then just his level of character as a man. I look up to him as a man, the way he carries himself, conducts himself. And the way he treats his players is second to none. Not only is he a great coach that’s going to push you, but he’s going to be the coach that pulls you to the side and loves you up when you mess up. He’s a special dude on and off the field. And I’ve got a super high level of respect for him."

The comment about Heupel's intelligence is something we've heard plenty of times before (Vols offensive line coach Glen Elarbee has called Heupel "freaky smart" on a couple of occasions, for example).

Throw in the comment about the way Heupel treats his players and it's easy to see why players and coaches are so eager to come to Knoxville these days.

Tennessee has a good one in Heupel. Not only is Heupel winning at a level that Vols fans haven't seen in over two decades, but he's doing it with integrity — which isn't something that every successful college football coach can say.
