The Detroit Lions made some moves on Sunday afternoon. First, they broke this writers heart when they waived the injured Mohamed Ibrahim. The undrafted rookie was my early pick to win the running back three job and it looked like it might trend that way until he got hurt. I have no doubt that he'll catch on somewhere in the NFL.
On the flip side, the Lions are bringing in safety Scott Nelson. The Detroit native has been around the league for a little bit now. After a nice career at Wisconsin, he went undrafted and was signed by the Seahwaks last August. He was released before the season and spent the year on and off the Steelers practice squad.
Most guys the Lions have waived with injury designations have cleared waivers and reverted back to the team. I expect this to happen with Ibrahim as well. He'll then be a free agent and sign anywhere he wants. Judging by Saturday, the Lions are probably sticking with Craig Reynolds at running back three.
As for Nelson, the Lions are probably taking a look here. Safety is a pretty deep spot for the Lions and he'll have a rough time trying to make the roster or the practice squad due to Brandon Joseph ad Brady Breeze having a decent preseason and camps.
