One thing we are all aware of when it comes to the Kansas City Chiefs is they know how to draft. Last year they played seven rookies significantly throughout the season and definitely in the playoffs. Those young guys stepped up too.
This draft class is a good one too. They addressed needs all over the roster and even brought a Kansas City native onto the team. A lot of this class can help this team this year, but they definitely are far from their full potential.
This group will need a lot of development. Luckily, that's what the preseason is for, and one rookie will perfectly use this last game.
"Basically, like I said, really just playing faster, knowing footwork, and everything like that, the basic things just to, just to stack on to so I can be better," rookie Felix Anudike-Uzomah said when asked what he is working on ahead of Week 3 in the preseason.
FAU is coming from the Big 12, where the game is petty fast on defense. And Kansas State had a really good defense last season. However, the NFL is different. The competition, the speed, everything is different.
The rookie is starting to notice that too. He has to do a bit of adjusting.
"Obviously, playing my first game in the four front, it's different from K State, where we are just in the three, and also, just the pace of it is different," Anudike-Uzomah stated. "And there's still a lot of improvement I need to do for me to be obviously a pretty good rusher. So, yeah, last, the last two games were definitely something I really needed."
Obviously, the preseason, training camp, and everything else the Chiefs are doing with FAU is working. For a rookie who has played just two preseason games, he is already looking like a promising pass rusher who is showing he can create pressures in the NFL.
Anudike-Uzomah played really good against the Saints, where he constantly put pressure on the offensive line and used a few different moves too. He was also fine when playing run defense. He has a ton of potential, and if there is any tam who can tap into that, it's the Chiefs.
