With the 2023 season about to get underway, ESPN revealed their 2023 college football bowl game predictions this week, which includes predictions for the Tennessee Vols.

ESPN's Kyle Bonagura and Mark Schlabach made separate predictions for each bowl game.

Bonagura has the Vols playing the Wisconsin Badgers in the Cheez-It Citrus Bowl in Orlando on January 1 at 1:00 PM ET.

The Citrus Bowl has been a common prediction for Tennessee this offseason. If the Vols play in the Citrus Bowl, it would likely mean a 9-3 regular season for Tennessee (LSU played in the Citrus Bowl last season after going 9-4 with a loss to Georgia in the SEC Championship game…the Tigers won their bowl game to finish 10-4).

Schlabach also has Tennessee playing on New Year's Day, but he has the Volunteers playing the North Carolina Tar Heels in the ReliaQuest Bowl in Tampa at 12:00 PM ET.

The ReliaQuest Bowl was previously known as the Outback Bowl, which Tennessee last played in after the 2015 season (the Vols beat Northwestern 45-6 in that matchup).

If Tennessee reaches the ReliaQuest Bowl, it would likely indicate a 9-3 or 8-4 regular season.

So either way, ESPN doesn't think the Vols are going to accomplish their goal of reaching the College Football Playoff. Which is just another small bit of motivation that Tennessee can use this fall.
