NASHVILLE — The Tennessee Titans will start quarterback Ryan Tannehill in the team’s preseason finale. Tennessee will host the New England Patriots in the Titans first home game of 2023.
Kickoff at Nissan Stadium is scheduled for 7:15 PM CT on 104.5 The Zone.
How much Tannehill plays against New England tonight remains the question. Coach Mike Vrabel has worked the first-string offensive line in the two previous preseason games at Chicago and Minnesota. Giving Tannehill a series or two behind them on their home field is intriguing.
Vrabel did not rule out the possibility of playing Tannehill earlier in the week, but it does run counter to how the Titans' coach has typically done things.
An argument against playing Tennessee's starter could easily made, given their current quarterback depth behind him. Rookie Will Levis' status for the contest is currently unknown after missing last week's game against the Vikings with a lower body injury. That gave second-year passer Malik Willis four quarters of opportunity.
The Titans got the preseason win, but it was not Willis' best outing.
Willis completed 10 of his 17 pass attempts for 85 yards, one touchdown and one interception. He contributed an additional 91 yards rushing to his team's 281 ground total on the day.
Tennessee will open up the 2023 season on Sept. 10th on the road against the New Orleans Saints.
