Getting ready for a football game is no easy task, but the stakes are raised when you're a rookie for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

No matter the cause, if the effect is one that produces stellar play on the field, then roll with it.

But rookie second-rounder Keeanu Benton has a part of his routine that may need some cleaning up…Literally:

Stomach Churning

“I think I’m probably going to throw up," said Benton on behalf of what his pregame routine will entail in week one. "That’s how I’ve been since I started playing ball. That’s just something that I know is going to happen. … I feel like once I get out there, the first drive, first couple hits, I’m good.”

A little butterflies in the stomach, that nervousness drives some players on the field, even if it means giving up the pregame meal.

But in all seriousness, Benton has performed terrifically this preseason, to the point where I have predicted him to be the Steelers' lone rookie starter:

Benton is easily the best nose tackle on the roster, and in my opinion, makes this defensive front five the best in the league with Larry O, Cam Heyward, T.J., and Alex Highsmith surrounding him.

You have to start fast in the NFL today, meaning mid-season slides like Pittsburgh experienced last year is unacceptable. In order to prevent that, you need your best players on the field, and I think Benton is one of them.
