The Carolina Panthers know the season may live or die with Bryce Young in the 2023 NFL season.
After impressing throughout the preseason, Young was named one of six captains on the team heading into its Week 1 matchup with the Atlanta Falcons.
The full list of captains is the following: Shaq Thompson, Brian Burns, Taylor Moton, Young, Adam Thielen, and Johnny Hekker.
Young, the team's No. 1 overall draft pick in the 2023 NFL Draft, was a two-time captain at Alabama.
Meanwhile, Thielen, a wide receiver signed in free agency, was a team captain with the Vikings in the prior two seasons. Hekker had been a team captain with the Rams for the previous eight seasons.
Burns and Moton were captains during the 2022 NFL season. And Thompson has been a captain for four seasons. He was drafted in 2015.
It is now official, however, Young is going to be a leader on the team he is tasked with turning around, if not this year, sometime in the next two to three.
