The Kansas City Chiefs have scored their first touchdown of the 2023 NFL season, and the touchdown-scorer will have the memory of a lifetime.

After surrendering a long touchdown drive to the Detroit Lions, the Chiefs came back with a 13-play 75-yard drive of their own to even the score at 7-to-7. It was a long and methodical drive, which included some scrambles from Chiefs QB Patrick Mahomes.

Chiefs second-round draft pick Rashee Rice had a drop earlier on the drive, but at the moment where it counted most, Mahomes went right back to him. He caught the ball on a one-yard touchdown grab in the back left of the end zone.

Check out the play below:

That's right, Rice's first career NFL touchdown was also the first touchdown of the 2023 NFL season for the Chiefs. That's got to be quite the special moment, especially after the rookie wideout struggled with some drops during the preseason. It's certainly a nice welcome to the NFL and a confidence-builder for the rookie receiver.

It looked as if he threw the football in celebration after the score, and you could see Mahomes running over to retrieve the ball for the teammate. It's the first of many, for sure, but a special piece of memorabilia nonetheless.

Big things are ahead for the No. 55 overall pick in the 2023 NFL draft.
