The New Orleans Saints and guard Cesar Ruiz have agreed on a long-term contract extension.

Per NFL Media's Ian Rapoport, the deal is worth up to $46 million over the course of four seasons and will keep Ruiz in a Saints uniform through the 2027 season. Officially, it's a $44 million deal that includes $30 million guaranteed.

Ruiz, the Saints' first-round pick from the 2020 NFL Draft, has started 40 games (46 games played) at two different offensive line positions for New Orleans during his first three years. He was an 11-game starter (including postseason play) at right guard as a rookie and started the 2021 season at center while Erik McCoy dealt with  a calf injury before moving back to right guard after five games. He's been playing next to McCoy ever since.

This deal makes Ruiz one of the six highest-paid right guards in the league from an Average Annual Value perspective. He joins Chris Lindstrom, Zack Martin, and Brandon Scherff as one of four with $30 million guaranteed in his contract.

More importantly, it keeps one of the Saints best young players in New Orleans for the next five years, including the 2023 season of course.
