$219.01 million guaranteed is enough to change the life of anyone in history, even Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow. The 26-year old locked that in when he put pen-to-paper Saturday morning in Paycor Stadium.
How long would you celebrate such an accomplishment? If you're the Bengals' franchise QB, the answer is not very long.
"Take a deep breath. Celebrate for about five minutes and then continue about your your weekly process," Burrow said of what he did after learning the news Thursday evening. "You know, it's game week. So you got to get ready to play."
Yep, that checks out.
Burrow has built a reputation of being all about ball. Was a life changing contract going to change that? Not likely considering it came less than four days from the first game of the season.
The timing itself was a big factor for Burrow during this process. Reaching an agreement before the games begin clears the way of any outside distractions.
Yeah, we wanted it done before [Week 1]," Burrow said. "That was important to me."
Burrow's earned more than five minutes to bask in all he's accomplished to get to this point, but it's all about playing from here on out.
