Mike Vrabel has gone out of his way to give opportunities to people who may otherwise never have gotten them.

Vrabel hired the franchise's first full-time female assistant coach, Lori Locust, back in February. The Titans also hired Sarah Bailey to work in the analytics department this summer. Then, this week it was announced that Vrabel would allow defensive line coach Terrell Williams to take over head coaching duties for the team's first preseason game against the Bears.

Vrabel then had another surprise for the team after a practice this week.

Haley Roberts, a strength and conditioning intern, has been promoted to the strength staff full-time. The news was met with applause from players and staff.

Roberts joins Locust as the two female coaches on staff.

Vrabel's former coach Bill Belichick has also been known to open doors for people. The Patriots made history this offseason by hiring the team's first-ever full-time female scout.

Letting Williams take over HC duties for a week may end up being a strategy used by other teams. If a coach feels that one of his assistants deserves a shot as a head coach, it's a wonderful idea to do what Vrabel is doing for Williams.
