Cincinnati Bengals rookie cornerback DJ Turner II has been one of the main stars of training camp and had a solid preseason debut to boot last week. Cincinnati's second-round pick from this year's NFL Draft has looked the part with top-tier speed and ball-tracking ability.

Turner will be playing in his first-ever NFL road game this Friday against the Atlanta Falcons, a team he's all too familiar with considering he grew up right next to where they're located. The rookie cornerback told Bengals Radio Network's Dan Hoard he'll have plenty of support in the stadium.

"I’m from Atlanta, so I’m going to have a whole bunch of people there,” Turner said. “That’s going to be a fun game.”

Growing up in Suwanee, GA, a few miles northwest of downtown Atlanta, Turner stood out first at North Gwinnett High School before transferring to IMG Academy in Florida. He became a three-star recruit and one of the 50 best cornerbacks in the country, choosing Michigan as his college destination.

While he eventually squared off against Georgia in the College Football Playoff two seasons ago, Turner hasn't played in his hometown state since high school. Returning to not only Georgia, but the city he calls his hometown will undoubtedly be special for the 22-year old rookie.

Turner played 42 snaps in his preseason debut against the Green Bay Packers, allowing just six receiving yards on five targets in coverage and coming away with a clutch pass breakup on a fourth down play. He also made two defensive stops as a tackler.

Expect to see Turner play a similar amount of snaps this Friday as he returns home to play in front of friends and family.
