Wednesday night, Colts owner Jim Irsay sent out a tweet that got the attention of Colts fans, the NFL, and possibly Jonathan Taylor.

When I read this tweet, a popular Pat McAfee Show segment came to mind, so without further ado…

What is Jim IrSAYING

While this tweet does come in the heat of the Colts ongoing contract negotiations with star running back Jonathan Taylor, I think it is important to share that Jim Irsay often has been the voice of multiple owners during topics that gather this level of public attention. A recent example of this would be when he elected to talk to the media and share an owner's point of view during the conversations surrounding Daniel Snyder potentially being forced to sell the Washington Commanders.

So Jim Irsay, with this tweet, may be speaking to the overall RB contract situation occurring around the NFL instead of his own personal frustration with the teams' ongoing negotiations with Jonathan Taylor.

Jonathan Taylor

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor (28) was present but did not dress in pads for the first day of training camp practice Wednesday, July 26, 2023, at Grand Park Sports Complex in Westfield, Indiana.

On the other hand, it is important to note that something felt off during the Colts opening day of training camp, watching Jonathan Taylor walk around the field. In years past, Jonathan Taylor's smile was ear to ear while going through drills and talking to his teammates. His overall happiness is something that a team representative has told me is "infectious." Wednesday's practice was different; Taylor's demeanor for most of the day looked very similar to the image captured from the practice above. Add this smoke to his representation's response below, and the Colts may have a fire on their hands.

If Irsay's tweet was, in fact, directed at Taylor and his representation, Colts fans are in for quite the ride in the coming weeks as this situation continues to boil. We will have to see if either side is willing to defuse the situation to come to an agreement that would keep Taylor in Indianapolis for the foreseeable future.
