The New York Giants have made a running back decision, just not the one that fans were hoping for.
Joe Schoen and the front office have had a busy day. Bringing in former Dallas Cowboys and Buffalo Bills WR Cole Beasley before the announcement broke that they would be bringing in a potential insurance option for the Saquon Barkley situation.
While we wait and see whatever happens with Barkley and the organization, Schoen just gave Brian Daboll and the Giants' offense another dynamic playmaker to pair with Daniel Jones. Adam Schefter helped break the news that free-agent RB James Robinson would be joining the team.
Robinson had previously spent time with the Jacksonville Jaguars, New England Patriots and New York Jets before finding a new home with the Giants. Robinson's addition will give the Giants another option this summer with Barkley's camp availability in question.
Robinson exploded onto the scene in his rookie year, amassing 1070 yards with seven touchdowns. Unfortunately, Jacksonville had other plans at the position and Robinson saw his production drop over the next few seasons before ultimately being shipped around to both the Jets and Patriots.
In his entire career, Robinson has started 32 of a possible 39 games with 2262 yards and 18 touchdowns on the ground. It didn't just end there as Robinson showed his prowess in the passing game, bringing in 91 receptions for 617 yards and five touchdowns.
Beasley, after reuniting with Daboll, and Robinson are hoping to make a splash this season, regardless of whatever happens with Barkley. Things are about to get a whole lot more interesting as camp is set to begin next week.
Report: Saquon Barkley felt ‘disrespected’ and might hold out
The New York Giants have been thrown in the national spotlight for all the wrong reasons. The Saquon Barkley situation just got a whole lot more interest.
