There were concerns about how the Green Bay Packers may celebrate Aaron Rodgers' career once he was traded to the New York Jets. He is a franchise legend. He will be remembered and commemorated as such, according to Packers President Mark Murphy. Packers contingent and shareholders had a meeting today, and Rodgers was discussed. The crowd was full of both cheers and jeers when he was the center of discussion.

“We will bring him back and retire his number at the appropriate time.”  — Murphy

This should come as no surprise, and it is actually the right decision. There should be no rush by Green Bay, and Rodgers certainly won't push the timeframe of a celebration for his time with the Packers. He is focused on performing for the Jets right now. As for the Packers, they are looking to make the most out of this transition period. Jordan Love enters as the starting quarterback.

Regardless, it makes sense for the Packers to acknowledge one of the best QBs in franchise history when the time is right down the road.
