Buffalo Bills TE Jace Sternberger

The Buffalo Bills are adding important depth left and right.

In yet another move by the organization, Aaron Wilson helped break the news that the Buffalo Bills are planning to sign former third-round draft pick Jace Sternberger.

Brandon Beane has been a busy man, bringing in RB Derrynton Evans just hours before the decision to bring in Jace Sternberger. Evans had been brought in almost immediately after the Nyheim Hines brutal injury update.

Sternberger, a former third-round pick who most recently spent time in the NFL with the Green Bay Packers, spent time with Kansas, Northeastern Oklahoma A&M, and Texas A&M collegiately. In his lone season at A&M, Sternberger finished with 48 receptions for 832 yards and 10 touchdowns.

After being drafted in the third round by the Green Bay Packers in 2019, Sternberger was placed on the injured reserve to start his season. A few more seasons plagued with injuries and suspensions related to violating the NFL's substance-abuse policy and the tight end was waived from the organization. Sternberger, so far in his NFL career, has 12 receptions for 114 yards and a touchdown.

The talented tight end jumped around several teams including the Seattle Seahawks, Washington Football Team, and Pittsburgh Steelers before taking his talents to the USFL in 2023.

This is where Sternberger shined, and a large reason why the Bills wanted to see if he had what it takes for another chance in the NFL. In the USFL, Sternberger not only won a championship but was the receiving touchdowns leader and part of the All-USFL team. He had finished his 2023 season with 33 receptions for 517 yards and seven touchdowns.

Buffalo already has a crowded tight end room with first-round pick Dalton Kincaid, Dawson Knox and Quintin Morris. However, if Sternberger can shine with his opportunities in camp, he could very well push out Morris for the last spot.

Anytime you can add an offensive playmaker to pair with your franchise quarterback, it's a good day. Josh Allen has to be happy with what the organization has been able to give him this offseason with not only protection but weapons.

This is the time of year when longshots can make it and under-the-radar additions can quickly become fan favorites. With the season rapidly approaching, things are about to get a whole lot more interesting.
