The Buccaneers' rookies reported to One Buc Place on Monday to begin their first NFL season.  One player's trip ended very prematurely.

LB Jeremy Banks was waived by the Buccaneers on Monday.

Banks, who played in college for Tennessee, was signed as an undrafted free agent shortly after the NFL Draft ended.  He was slated to battle fifth-round draft pick SirVocea Dennis for a reserve inside linebacker spot.

The move is interesting, as it wasn't made to cut down the roster to 90, nor was the move made with a simultaneous acquisition.  As such, per the Buccaneers, they have one open roster spot under the 90-man limit.

Banks was no stranger to controversy at Tennessee, where he was suspended for the majority of the 2019 season and curiously absent for the 2022 game at South Carolina without explanation from his head coach Josh Heupel.  However, there's been no word from the team or any media outlet whether behavior played any role in him being waived.

Banks finished his career in Knoxville with 219 tackles, 18 tackles for loss, 5.5 sacks, and 3 interceptions.
