Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes was asked recently by teammate Travis Kelce to name his Mount Rushmore of NFL quarterbacks.

Mahomes, who would probably be included on a lot of folk's Mount Rushmore of quarterbacks, quickly rattled his top four quarterbacks of all time (though it sounded like he really wanted to make it a top five).

The Chiefs superstar included Tom Brady, Joe Montana, Peyton Manning, and John Elway on his Mount Rushmore of quarterbacks.

"I mean obviously Tom (Brady) is on there," said Mahomes. "Joe Montana, he's on there. Four Super Bowls, gotta put him on there. Then Peyton Manning would probably be on there for me."

"It's probably between Dan Marino and John Elway and I don't know who that fourth one is," continued Mahomes. "I'm gonna give it to Elway just because he has the rings. But Marino if you look at the stats, dude, his first season — 48 touchdowns in that era? Best quarterback season in history. I don't care what anyone says — that thing is one of the most special seasons. And then like every single time that I've been breaking these records, it's like 'Dan Marino had 170 touchdowns in three years' and I'm like 'What? How? They ran the ball back then'. So I mean, just because of the rings (for Elway), but I mean Dan Marino's right there."

I'm sure everyone has a different take, but it's hard to argue with that list from Mahomes. And it's clear that he has a deep appreciation for the game (especially since he's still so impressed by Marino's magical season that happened nearly 40 years ago). There are plenty of reasons for Mahomes greatness and among those reasons is that he isn't afraid to study what make the legends of the game so great.
