The New Orleans Saints got some unfortunate news on Saturday. Running back Eno Benjamin suffered a serious achilles injury. On Sunday, they placed him on injured reserve, ending his season before it truly started.
For Benjamin, it is a tough break as he was working towards a depth role for the Saints. For New Orleans, Benjamin was projected to be RB4 when Alvin Kamara is active. He was on the roster bubble. Now, Ellis Merriweather and potential free-agent RBs could battle for that spot for the offense.
It will be intriguing to see if any running backs emerge behind Kamara, Jamaal Williams, and Kendre Miller. Hopefully, Benjamin returns to full health for next year.
