After the New Orleans Saints lost veteran linebacker Andrew Dowell to injury in training camp, many folks thought that they may add another one in free agency. They need the depth behind Demario Davis and Pete Werner. Davis suffered a minor injury in camp as well. A few options dropped off the free agent market over the last few days in Zach Cunningham, Kwon Alexander, and Myles Jack.

The Saints are hosting LB Anthony Barr on a visit this week. Barr was drafted 9th overall in 2014 by the Vikings and played with them from 2014-2021. He was with the Dallas Cowboys last year as a depth LB. Barr has 553 career tackles and 18.5 career sacks.

Barr is a four-time Pro Bowler. He would make plenty of sense for the Saints as they look for a proven piece. Rookies Anfernee Orji and Nick Anderson are two players battling for a roster spot at LB, and the other depth doesn't have a ton of experience, either.

The Saints should give him a deal if the workout goes well for Barr. He played on a one-year, $3 million deal last year in Dallas. It wouldn't be expensive for New Orleans.
