There were some scares regarding the New Orleans Saints this past weekend. Linebacker Demario Davis missed practice time due to an injury. So far, he has missed three practices with a calf injury.
Fortunately, they got a good report about the star LB from head coach Dennis Allen on Monday after practice. Allen does not think that it will be a long-term injury, according to Nick Underhill.
Allen remains optimistic on Davis' outlook. It sounds like a minor injury, but we all know how quickly that can change. It is smart for Davis to rest the injury and prevent further risk.
The Saints have to have a healthy Demario this year because the LB depth is not enticing right now. Pete Werner is solid, but he has dealt with injuries in the past. Behind those two, there is little proven depth on the roster at that position for the Saints.
Hopefully, Davis can return at full strength sooner rather than later for New Orleans.
