As the pressure rises for the Cleveland Browns, ahead of what feels like a make-or-break season, Myles Garrett, arguably the team's best player, is talking about what will make 2023 the year the defense lives up to many of the names on the depth chart.

Humility.

The defense, specifically, the defensive line, is doing what they weren't a year ago. They are learning from each other, and that will make all the difference come meaningful games in September.

"It's about us, the D line — we're all worried about each other's success," he said. "It's not about one person. It's not about trying to teach the young guys. Everybody can learn from every individual. So there are some young guys who have some things I haven't seen or have some instances that maybe I pick up on.

"We're just learning from each other and just trying to pass along the information that we have."

In 2022, the Browns were a middle-of-the-road defensive team in terms of points allowed, points per game, and opponent points per game.

If the Browns are going to return to the NFL Playoffs, that means they have to get the best of a defense that at times has looked great, but at others looked suspect. So finding consistency starts with the defensive line. Garrett knows that, and naturally, he is hoping the line can put the team's best defensive foot forward.

So naturally, after the acquisitions of DT Dalvin Tomlinson and DE Za'Darius Smith, along with a new defensive coordinator in Jim Schwartz, the belief that the Browns' defense and the Browns' defensive line could be an imposing force come naturally.

Only time will tell if they actually live up to the expectations they set for themselves.
