A new quarterback's biggest task may be earning major trust in his new locker room. New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr has clearly done that already, though.
Star wide receiver Michael Thomas discussed Carr's leadership and command of the offense so far in his time with the team. He sounded excited about the addition of Carr, and Thomas notes that Carr has specific expectations from his teammates. A strong connection between Carr and Thomas could be a huge factor for the Saints this year. That sounds likely so far in training camp.
The Saints needed a new leader. They lacked that on the offensive side of the football last season. Not to mention, Carr provides a baseline skillset that they haven't possessed in the last couple of seasons. Playing better helps you earn respect in a new locker room, too. Carr has been firing the ball around the field at practice in training camp, and Thomas is ready to go.
After a tough season from a combo of Andy Dalton and a bit of Jameis Winston, Carr seems like a breath of fresh air.
