Mess with the bull, get the horns. The New York Jets' new OC and former Broncos HC Nathaniel Hackett was blindsided by Sean Payton earlier this week with explosive comments about his head coaching abilities.

Payton went viral with his comments, before ultimately backtracking and admitting he may have taken things too far. However, that wasn't before HC Robert Saleh laid into Payton and his controversial comments.

Saleh wasn't going to sit around and let his team or his new OC be bullied. His soundbite quickly went viral. "I'm not going acknowledge Sean. He's been in the league for a while; he can say whatever the hell he wants"

Saleh continued, "As far as what we have going on here, I kind of live by the saying, 'If you ain't got no haters, you ain't popping.' So hate away."

Ending his segment with a bang, Saleh left no doubt about how he feels about Payton and their upcoming matchup. Leaving a parting shot at the Broncos' new head coach.

"Obviously, we're doing something right if you've got to talk about us when we don't play you until [Week 5]. And I'm good with it, but the guys in our locker room, they've earned everything that's coming to them. I'm really excited about what's going on. I think Hackett is doing a phenomenal job here, and the coaching staff is doing a phenomenal job. We're focused on us. I get it. There's a lot of external noise. There's a lot of people hating on us. There's a lot of people looking for us to fail. There are a lot of crows pecking at our necks. All you can do is spread your wings and keep flying high until those crows fall off and suffocate from the inability to breathe."

Now, for the first time since Payton's explosive interview, Nathaniel Hackett spoke to the media about his thoughts on the whole ordeal.

Speaking plainly, Hackett let it rip and gave Jets fans a huge reason to celebrate. "Almost thankful we got that out of the way, we understand the way certain people feel and think," he said speaking about the new Broncos head coach.

Hackett continued, "There's a code and there's a way things are done in that house. This past week, it's frustrating and it sucks. We're all susceptible to it."

With a final soundbite, Hackett made his feelings known, ""It's not about me. This game is about no one man."

While it was nowhere near as explosive as Payton's comments, Hackett was reserved and fired his own counter-punch. While Payton was loud and brash, Hackett was calculated with his comments, not pushing the boundaries but reminding Payton he wouldn't be bullied.

Hackett has to be loving what he's been given this offseason ad the Jets made the blockbuster trade to acquire Super Bowl MVP and league MVP Aaron Rodgers.

With the two teams set to face off in week 5, it's quickly turning into must-watch tv. For Jets fans, we know they're chomping at the bit and ready to see what this offense led by Rodgers can do to the Broncos' defense.

Hackett wants some payback, it's going to be a battle. We can't wait.
