Tennessee Vols senior pass rusher Roman Harrison said on Tuesday that UT became what he wanted it to become without him having to say a word.
Harrison said that's thanks to head coach Josh Heupel. And as a result, Tennessee now expects to win championships.
"Tennessee became what I wanted it to be without me having to say a word and that's a big up to Coach Heup," said Harrison while speaking with reporters. "With the last staff, I would just sit back and watch everything. And with this staff, they bring you in more. It's more of a family type of environment. So we pull each other along and we bring the best out of each other because we expect the most from each other."
"We expect to win games, we expect to win championships," added Harrison. "But it's going to come day by day. We know it's going to come with hard days. We're gonna have to work every day for it. Our technique, our plays — knowing what you have to do. It all ties into it. We all know that as a group. And under Coach Heup, you know, we just expect to win."
There's no doubt that Tennessee is operating with a championship mentality in 2023.
It obviously remains to be seen if that mindset will result in a championship this season. But it's undeniable that Josh Heupel has his team ready to go up against any other program in the nation with the expectation that Tennessee will leave the field with a win.
