The New Orleans Saints have been on the search for another linebacker. After hosting Anthony Barr on a visit early this week, another former Pro Bowl LB is working out for the Saints.
According to Jordan Schultz, linebacker Jaylon Smith is working out for the Saints on Thursday.
Smith made the Pro Bowl in 2019. He was very impressive in his first four seasons in the NFL from 2017-2020 for the Dallas Cowboys. Smith played for the New York Giants last season, totaling 88 tackles, one sack, and a fumble recovery.
The veteran linebacker would make a ton of sense for New Orleans. Adding him behind Demario Davis and Pete Werner would be better depth than the Saints are used to as of late. Plus, it would take some pressure off young guys that would be forced into action if the Saints don't add another LB.
The move would also probably be fairly cheap for the Saints. They have the space to get it done.
