On Thursday, a report surfaced that suggested that former Dallas Cowboys running back Ezekiel Elliott has his eye on three teams.
Elliott, who was released earlier this offseason by the Cowboys, reportedly has narrowed his choices to the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets, and Philadelphia Eagles.
On Thursday night, Bengals head coach Zac Taylor was the keynote speaker for St. Xavier's 39th annual Athletic Hall of Fame Dinner and Induction.
The Cincinnati head coach was asked directly about the Elliott rumors.
And his response made it seem like the Bengals aren't that interested in the former Pro Bowl running back.
“There’s a lot of great players that are available right now,” said Taylor on Thursday night. "We like our team as where it’s at right now. But it’s always funny when things get thrown around. Sometimes, it’s the first you hear of it. But that’s just the way life works.”
It sounds like the news that Elliott is interested in signing with the Bengals was a surprise to Taylor. That's probably because Cincinnati doesn't' really have an opening at running back right now.
Joe Mixon is still on the Bengals' roster and as long as that's the case, it wouldn't make much sense for Cincy to pursue Elliott.
And based on Taylor's comments on Thursday night, I'd be quite surprised if Elliott landed with the Bengals this offseason.
