The New Orleans Saints are signing former Raiders quarterback Derek Carr to be their new starting quarterback, which means the Raiders are officially done with Carr.

Sure, they were when they released him, but the Raiders were always going to be mentioned anytime Carr was talked about, and the ties were going to be talked about as well.

This puts the Raiders in new territory because they haven't had to find a new quarterback in over nine seasons. It has been Carr for that long. He was the franchise guy.

The Saints signed Carr to a four-year deal, per Mike Garafolo of NFL Network.

At least the guy is going to a good situation in terms of the offense around him. And, he is going to a place he wanted to go to, not somewhere he was traded.

That leaves backup quarterback Jameis Winston out now, as he could be a potential salary cap candidate to be cut. The Raiders may have some interest there, but who knows?
