The Dallas Cowboys are never out for the spotlight. A big reason for that is their outspoken mouthpiece, owner Jerry Jones.

It's been no secret that Jones has wanted free agent wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. to join the Cowboys since late last season. Several months may have gone by, but Jones hasn't backed off from his desire to make that happen.

"He's somebody that I have the same kind of interest that I had in him during the season," said Jones, via ESPN's Todd Archer.

Jones says he hasn't had direct contact with Beckham but he has had some indirect contact on a few occasions. However, Jones did speak directly with someone very close to Beckham, his mom.

"I did have a very impressive visit, the most impressive at all, with the most important one in this whole proposition, and that's his mother," Jones said. "And we had a great visit there at the (NFL) honors. It was real easy for me to see why Odell's got a lot of his pluses. She was very impressive."

A big factor in Beckham not getting an offer from the Cowboys was the uncertainty of his availability. These days, Beckham is working diligently in his rehab from a torn ACL last February, and he looks to be ready to contribute to an NFL team.

Dallas needs another playmaker at wide receiver. That was clear last season as the production outside of CeeDee Lamb was inconsistent. Lamb outperformed the rest of the receivers by himself, and that's just not acceptable.

Nobody knows where Beckham will end up in 2023, and the Cowboys surely won't be the only team trying to snag him. However, it appears Jones will keep the idea of that happening in Dallas alive and well until Beckham makes his choice.
