Nick Gates is no longer a New York Giant, officially signing with the Washington Commanders.

Mike Garafolo of NFL Network had the news first, announcing a three-year deal for Gates to Washington.

Garafolo would later add some of the finances of the deal including:

  • $16 million over three years
  • $1.5 million in incentives
  • $18 million max value
  • $8 million guaranteed

A feel-good story indeed, Gates had one of the scarier injuries in recent memory and as Garafolo stated, has battled a long road since that devastating day.

Gates played in every game the first two years of his career, then ravaged by the aforementioned leg injury in 2021.

He bounced back this year, appearing in 10 contests and earning votes for the NFL's comeback player of the year award

A story of perseverance, good for Gates.
