Despite having a great general manager and front office, teams have to make tough decisions to stay within cap compliance all the time, and the Eagles are in the process of making a move that won't be all that popular when its all said and done.
You have to make sure the money is right. Sometimes that means cutting Pro Bowlers.
After a few days of some uncertainty in the situation, the Eagles are currently set to release starting corner Darius Slay later today.
A move like this is going to save some money for a team that does really need it, but that doesn't mean that it will be very popular.
Slay has been excellent for the majority of his time with the Eagles. That secondary was one of the best in the league in 2022 and was a huge reason why they made it to the Super Bowl, and getting rid of a guy like Slay for no compensation isn't going to help those prospects in 2023.
The Eagles have huge shoes to fill, and the free agent market just got a new hottest name.
