Saints fan favorite has strong reaction to Lamar Jackson news
One star for the New Orleans Saints has a strong take about Ravens QB Lamar Jackson.
The New Orleans Saints took care of their quarterback situation this week. For another NFL team, they can't really say the same. The Baltimore Ravens placed a non-exclusive franchise tag on star QB Lamar Jackson. That means that he will be able to communicate with opposing teams about a new contract while still with the Ravens during this off-season.
Jackson is a former MVP, so it is a tad surprising that Baltimore isn't trying harder to lock up the QB with a long-term deal. That being said, there are injury concerns, and he is looking for quite a massive contract in terms of guaranteed money.
One Saints star is perplexed by the situation with Jackson, and he made that clear on social media. Tyrann Mathieu tweeted about it earlier today.
Mathieu's sentiment is probably shared by many. The Ravens clearly haven't given Jackson what he and his camp believes he deserves.
Additionally, multiple teams were immediately "out" on Jackson as soon as the news broke today that they were placing the flag on him. The interest doesn't seem nearly as widespread as you would expect.
Of course, it is probably the most frustrating for the QB. Jackson feels like he deserves a certain amount of money guaranteed along with a certain length of contract in years.
If the Saints didn't sign Derek Carr yesterday, they would potentially be interested – you'd think. The money would be quite the obstacle, but they've surprised folks before.
Regardless, one Saints player is frustrated with the treatment of Jackson.
