The Kansas City Chiefs believe they may not be able to bring back a valuable piece of their Super Bowl-winning squad back for the 2023 season, as sad as it may be.

The 2023 offseason is going to be made full of some crazy decisions we didn't think we would see last season. For example, just this week we saw Frank Clark get released.

Then there is the whole Orlando Brown Jr. situation, where he could be back on a long-term deal, or he could hit free agency. The franchise tag won't be an option with him.

Now, we are hearing that the Chiefs believe they won't be able to bring back Mecole Hardman because of the free agency market, per James Palmer of NFL Network.

Hardman was a valuable piece to this team, even if he only played eight games this last season. When he did play, he was a focal point of the offense. Just look at Week 7 when they played the best defense in the NFL in the 49ers, where he scored three total touchdowns.

Hardman is a huge reason the Chiefs had the number-one scoring offense in the league. Reid loved to use him with end-around in the run game, as well as jet sweeps.

Another reason he was so valuable is because he was the only remaining receiver from the last two years. The chemistry with Mahomes was there, and it was easier. Nothing was forced.

Hopefully, wherever he goes, he does well, unless he plays the Chiefs, that is.
