The New Orleans Saints have made it obvious where they stand with veteran quarterback Jameis Winston.

They have offered Winston a restructured deal to keep him in New Orleans. However, he won't have long to decide as Wednesday begins the NFL's free agency period, and he'll be released if he doesn’t accept it.

Saints reporter Katherine Terrell added a twist to the situation.

Winston was reportedly upset when he lost his starting job to Andy Dalton after he suffered a back injury last season. So, bad feelings could play a factor also when a player feels disrespected or lied to in this case.

The three-year journey for Winston with the Saints has been a rollercoaster.

It was obvious Winston wasn't going to play in 2020 when future Hall of Fame quarterback Drew Brees was still on the roster. In 2021, Winston was named the starter and the Saints won five of their first seven games, but he suffered a torn ACL and MCL damage in Week 8 which ended his season.

It comes down to the Saints way or the highway for Winston. This is the harsh reality of the business side of the NFL so only time will tell what happens between Winston and the Saints over the next week.
