The Buffalo Bills currently have all seven of their 2024 NFL Draft picks.
Buffalo is one of the rare teams that hasn't traded away a 2024 draft pick or traded for a 2024 draft pick.
The Bills are expecting to add another 2024 draft pick to their toolbox and it has nothing to do with a trade.
Buffalo general manager Brandon Beane said on Monday at the NFL owner's meetings that he believes the Bills will be receiving a third-round draft pick in 2024 as compensation for losing linebacker Tremaine Edmunds.
Edmunds signed a four-year deal with the Chicago Bears earlier this month.
Beane noted that any additional moves the Bills make in free agency this offseason won't impact the third-round comp pick.
If you're wondering how NFL comp picks are determined, he's a quick explanation from NBC Sports.
When awarding compensatory picks, the NFL uses a formula that accounts for a player’s average salary per year (APY), snap count and postseason awards. The exact specifics of the formula are confidential, but we do know it also takes into consideration a player’s history of playing time (or lack thereof).
The Bills do not have any comp picks in the 2023 NFL Draft. Comp picks for the 2024 NFL Draft should be announced in March 2024.
