Damar Hamlin continues to defy the odds. What the Buffalo Bills safety has been able to do since his traumatic injury is so much bigger than sports.

The talented safety already has an incredible comeback story. After suffering a reported cardiac arrest in which he needed to be resuscitated on the field, the entire nation has been keeping tabs on Hamlin's recovery.

Hamlin has continued to fight and battle in hopes to return to the football field one day. Furthermore, Hamlin has worked on, or been part of, a series of initiatives to protect young Americans and athletes across the country.

Teaming up with the Red Cross to bring awareness to CPR, being the inspiration of a multi-sport initiative to bring more life-saving devices to high schools, and now going to the U.S Capitol to advocate for a bipartisan bill aimed to help millions of children, Hamlin is an inspiration.

Hamlin visited Capitol Hill with his family and other advocates to help work with lawmakers in an effort to bring more access to automated external defibrillators in schools across the country. In fact, it's reported that in schools with AEDs, the life-saving devices, the survival rate for children from sudden cardiac arrest is 7 times higher.

In a message to the world, Hamlin discussed what his plans were and why this initiative is so important.

Damar Hamlin is doing his best to bring awareness in an effort to save more lives. What was an awful tragedy on the football field that nearly resulted in a lost life has turned into something beautiful. Hamlin has an opportunity to make an impact on millions of young adults across the country in a way much bigger than any sport could.

While we patiently wait for Hamlin's return to the football field, we are elated to see the work he is doing off the field.

Damar Hamlin's story is the type of thing movies are written about.

In his own words, he mentioned that he's just getting started. We cannot wait to see what more he is going to do outside of the game of football.
